Media Fire fighter training for the day. This training consisted of orientation to the roles of a fire fighter and the responsibility of the Fire Officer. The media were provided an overview of the Rapid Intervention Team concept and were taken into the training smoke house to view an actual fire while wearing self contained breathing apparatus. They also viewed the smoke conditions and fire through the use of the thermal imaging camera.

The fire department as part of the Prince Albert & District Partners for a Safe Community provided fire extinguisher training and orientation to the roles and responsibilities of today's fire fighter.

In 2005 the Fire Department was called to rescue an individual that was on the river in a dingy. He did not have a personal floatation device or paddles and was floating down the river. He started his journey from North Battleford and it took two days before he passed the City of Prince Albert. A concerned citizen called in the incident and the fire department retrieved the man from the river.

In 2006 students from the Integrated Human Resources program had a one-day orientation to the fire department. As part of their orientation they were taken through the smoke house to get an insight into the black out conditions that fire fighters face during a structural fire.
